Description
A dental post is a restorative component used in endodontically treated teeth (teeth that have had a root canal) to provide internal support for a crown or fixed restoration. When a tooth loses a significant portion of its natural structure, a post is placed inside the root canal to reinforce the tooth, retain a core buildup, and ensure the long-term stability of the restoration. Posts can be made from metal alloys (gold, stainless steel, nickel-chromium), fiber-reinforced composite, or zirconia, depending on the clinical requirements and esthetic considerations.
